Mercedes Bolden
Mercedes was born and raised in Charlotte, NC where she competed in various dance styles for 13 years.
At a young age, Mercedes became part of a tap company in Durham, NC known as the North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble (NCYTE). For three years, while still competing at her home studio, she traveled with the company and performed in shows throughout the U.S.
After high school, she began a job with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. She performed in the condensed 90 minute version of the Broadway Musical “Hairspray!” and also a Cirque Du Soleil inspired show that had contemporary style dancing and harness work. After completing her contract, she began assisting famed choreographer Bobby Newberry.
Soon after meeting Newberry, Mercedes decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams as a professional dancer. While assisting Newberry, she also taught at an Orange County Competitive Dance Studio and filmed a pilot and first season of a reality television show with MTV. She also appeared on a reality tv show on WE TV.
After spending over a year in LA, Mercedes moved back home to pursue her education and decided to fully be involved with teaching and choreography for studios throughout the U.S. She now permanently resides in Charlotte and teaches dance full time. e work to do.
